Nutritional Encyclopedia: Herbs

Natural herbs have been used throughout our history to enhance the flavour of our food, and for their healing properties in many cultures. A herb is a plant where the leaves, seeds or flowers can be used to improve our health when used correctly. Herbs are often available fresh, dried or powdered.

Benefits of herbs range from reducing the risk of certain cancers, improving our heart health, reducing blood cholesterol, balancing our blood sugar, improving the immune system function, assist in digestion, promoting healthy teeth and gums, reducing stress and anxiety, better focus and concentration, to improving our recovery post-workout and contribute to weight loss. Some herbs are also used for their anti-ageing, antiseptic or anti-inflammatory properties.
