Nutritional Encyclopedia: Vitamins

Vitamins are naturally present in many foods and can be added to foods for enrichment. Many vitamins are also readily available in supplement form.

Our body needs vitamins for many different functions. Some vitamins can be stored by our body, whereas some are not stored and are excreted daily. Therefore, we need to ensure a consistent intake of different vitamins in our diet. Vitamins can maintain our heart health, promote our eyesight, keep our skin healthy, contribute to strong bones and teeth, improve our immune system, balance our blood sugar, prevent certain types of cancer, assist in providing our body with energy during physical training and contribute to weight-loss, as well as promoting post-workout recovery.
